Katy Perry Insists She Is Not Dating Robert Ackroyd

At 27 years of age, Katy Perry is telling media that she’s not looking for love right now after splitting up with husband of 14 months, actor Russell Brand.

In spite of having been recently seen out with Robert Ackroyd, lead guitarist for Florence + The Machine, Perry is adamant that they are just “friends”, not girlfriend and boyfriend and that it is not the right time for her to be in a relationship again right now.

Katy Perry and Robert Ackroyd (Lead Guitarist for indie rock band, Florence + The Machine) are only friends according to Perry.

Meanwhile, 37 year old Brand is telling media that he’s never been better in his life and is basking himself in transcendental meditation, yoga and living life in the now, telling the U.K.’s Sun newspaper, “I’m dedicating myself to all sorts of interesting things you know. Transcendental meditation, kundalini yoga, these things are right good for the old spirit. You can just use it to have a relax instead of having a fag or a drink. It’s like a shower for your brain.  I try not to compartmentalise things too much into years, but generally speaking I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my life. Of course I went through a divorce which isn’t good for anybody, but that was that bit of time – that was really lovely – this is this bit of time – this is really lovely”.

Meanwhile, Perry has spoken about her rumored dating of Ackroyd to USA Today by saying,  “That’s not even appropriate to label.  There are times I go out and meet people and flirt, but it’s not really appropriate to have anything serious.”

Whatever it was between Perry and Ackroyd seems to be cooling off a bit.  Perhaps, it’s the media attention it’s been getting or, it may be that Perry simply is being honest and simply isn’t interested in anything further.  Only time will tell.  However, it’s likely that Perry is trying to adjust to life as a young, free, divorcee-to-be or perhaps, simply trying to fill in voids left behind by a broken marriage at a young age by today’s standards.

Perry blames Brand for the divorce, stating what feels to be almost childish reasons such as he didn’t visit the bubble-gum pop star while she was on tour as well as the idea that he wanted children and she wasn’t ready.

Who knows who’s to blame but, suffice it to say that the 10 year age difference may have been to blame by putting the pair in different stages and places in Life which caused a mis-balance in wants, needs and desires in both sides of this former pair.

From all that’s been said in the media between the two, it’s clear that Perry is not dealing as well as Brand is with the split and is likely wise for Perry to not leap into another relationship at this point in time.  Whether she’s in one with Ackroyd and simply denying it or not, the reality is that Perry has given the impression that she’s hung up on the breakdown of her marriage to Brand and that can’t bode well for a relationship with anyone else.

Ironically, Brand’s latest movie, Rock of Ages, has hit theaters and features Tom Cruise, also in the midst of what will surely become a nasty divorce from estranged wife, Katie Holmes who was the one who filed for the divorce June 28, 2012, unbeknownst to Cruise.

There again was an age difference of some 13 years between Holmes and Cruise with Holmes marrying Cruise at the tender age of 27 years as well.

One thing is for certain, both Perry and Holmes will likely come out of their divorces with stronger than ever careers so, while their hearts may be hurting, their wallets won’t likely be empty.
