Comedienne, Joan Rivers has reportedly begun a 2 day process of being brought out of a medically induced coma after having suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday August 28th. They are hoping she will wake up at some point on Tuesday of this week so that she can be assessed for brain damage. She is still reportedly reliant upon a ventilator.
Rivers’ daughter, Melissa has stated that they are keeping their fingers crossed that the 81 year old will be fine as doctors worry that Rivers could be left with motor impairments, confined to a wheelchair and possibly even in a vegetative state. No one knows what to expect.
It must be a difficult time for Rivers’ family as they await her coming out of the coma. It is uncertain how long she was without oxygen running to her brain. It only takes a few moments before the brain starts having cells die off and damage done.
Rivers has allegedly made it clear that she did not want to live if she couldn’t live a full and active life but, it appears that she has to be given a chance to see what she can or can’t do and what, if any, damage might have been done. There is a possibility of a full recovery or, the worst case scenario. What the family has been told, we are uncertain of as the public but, it’s clear that there weren’t any real choices but to try to see what will happen once Rivers has come out of the coma.
Many have taken to prayer that Rivers will make a full recovery since she’s shown no signs of any major health issues and seemed much younger than her years in every way.
Like her family, the public waits with crossed fingers for a good outcome.
