Once the elephant is in the room, you can’t stuff it into a corner. It’s there and it has to be dealt with appropriately. You can’t ignore it, pretend you don’t see it any longer or put a table cloth over it and call it a coffee table. It’s an elephant and it’s in the room.
U.S. President, Donald Trump has let out a bomb in a closed door meeting where he felt comfortable enough to talk about Haiti and Africa, allegedly referring to them as “shithole countries” and went on to say that they shouldn’t be allowed in the U.S., take them out and bring in people from countries like Norway.
The next day, after the world was upset, shocked and disgusted by the remarks of the president of such an influential country, Trump stated that he didn’t say the word “shithole” and went on to declare Martin Luther King Jr Day as a holiday.
Of course, as would be expected, some of the personelle at the meeting, “don’t remember” whether he used the word or not. At least one of them has come forward with that information and is sticking by his word. Either other people at that meeting and questioned, weren’t paying attention to the goings-on, trying to turn the elephant into a coffee table with a table cloth over it or, they are protecting the Orange Man they call their leader.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, a top Republican, said the reported comments were “unfortunate” and “unhelpful.
Whether or not the word “shithole countries” were used or not, doesn’t make a difference in the eye of the world. That table cloth that Trump et al are attempting to use to disguise that elephant is of no use. The mere fact that Trump is Trump and has uttered all that he’s said (usually on Twitter), is merely more arrows pointing towards the idea that Trump is “racist”. The word, “shithole” is bad but, even were it not to have been used, the idea behind Trump’s message was that of a racist.
“Reached for comment about the article, White House spokesperson Raj Shah did not deny the “shithole” remark, but instead said in a statement that Trump “is fighting for permanent solutions that make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation,” CNN has stated.
Similarly, CNN has stated that “The New York Times reported Trump said during a meeting in June that people coming from Haiti “all have AIDS,” that recent Nigerian immigrants would never “go back to their huts” in Africa and that Afghanistan is a terrorist haven.”
Sure enough and without doubt, Trump has Tweeted the following on his Twitter account.
Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. Never said “take them out.” Made up by Dems. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians. Probably should record future meetings – unfortunately, no trust!
That’s not all that Trump Tweeted. There’s plenty more rants to read on his Twitter page. The man just cannot keep his mouth shut and the more he opens it, the further he sticks his feet and everyone else’s associated with him, into it.
There’s no doubt that Americans who didn’t vote for Trump are totally embarrassed by their president’s actions, words and Tweets. I’ve spoken to a number of them today. Trump’s name seems to send shivers of disbelief, embarrassment, shock and wonderment as to how much more the buffoon can do or utter while making The U.S. a total “laughing stalk” out of the once revered country that the world looked up to. With a leader like Trump at the helm, his “America First” slogan and, denials that would make Grandma’s hair curl better than the perm she had done, it’s little wonder that there are many Americans who are mortified and want to crawl under rocks while having Trump removed from office A.S.A.P..
From my little corner of life, anyone who defends this type of behaviour, words, actions or goals, tends to end up only looking stupid while trying to cover the elephant in the room with a table cloth and pass it off as a coffee table. Anyone who believes that Trump’s thinking (whether or not the term “shithole” was used or not) is correct and the way to go, must love the idea of being completely racist, un-intelligent and alone in the world. After all, Trump is not only shaming the once great nation but, they are helping isolate the U.S. from the rest of the world. My suggestion is not to do it. One moron is enough in America.
Be Well. Love and Light,
Have a great day or evening.
